I got engaged .:. Posted @ 10:43 am
I proposed to Laurie Monday night at taekwon do. Everyone in the group knew about it but Laurie. I told her that we were having TaeKwon Do at old main so we could take group pictures for the group website. That helped explain all the cameras. It is also Laurie’s birthday on Saturday. One of the gifts I got her was sparring gear. So I had the ring and sparring gear shipped to Mr. Campbell’s house. He then brought it with him with the ring hidden in the gear.
Towards the beginning of class I was doing a double jump kick(hooking kick then snap kick) and landed on my first leg wrong. I heard 3 loud pops and collapsed. My sword edge of my foot was touching my side of my leg and my knee was twisted up too. I messed up both sides of my ankle and my knee. I sat for awhile and then tried to test my leg by walking on it. I could. So I then decided to see if I could do some kind of stance. I did the 3 popping thing all over again. So I sat out the rest of the class and took pictures.
Mr. Campbell came over and asked me if i still wanted to go through with it. I was determined so I said Yes. At the end of class Mr. Campbell said ok get your gear out. So Laurie came over and I gave her the gear. She thought it was mine. She had gotten used to using other peoples over the last 6 months or so. Then she noticed it was way too small. I told her happy birthday. She seemed happy and proceeded to put it on. She noticed the ring hidden in there. She whispered “It’s ok we will do this after class everyone is waiting.” I told her “look around they all know” :). So then I painfully got on one knee and proposed. It was a great day. She said Yes!
I went to the ER later that night. I am in a soft gel cast with crutches.

This is great news!
This is a great proposal story, one that you, of course, and many others will remember.
A soft gel cast? Crutches? I am glad that Laurie has the good sense to keep you–even with cast and crutches. She’s getting quite a exceptional, honest, helpful, and well-liked man who will make a great spouse. The cast and crutches will be long gone soon. Remember, it’s not the wrapper, but the gift inside.
My congratulations and best wishes!
